Recipe tips for perfect results:

  • Storage: Leftover grape salad keeps well when stored in an air tight container in the refrigerator. The brown sugar will dissolve and the nuts may get soft, however, so if you’re making the recipe ahead of time, do not add the topping until you are ready to serve.
  • Substitutions:
    • Grapes: You may use any kind or combination of seedless grape as long as they are firm. You can also incorporate bites of apple or other crunchy juicy fruit.
    • Sugar: Honey or maple syrup would work as a sugar replacement, however the quantity would be different. Start by adding a little, taste, and add more until the perfect balance is reached.
    • Creamy base: Whipped cream cheese or a brick of softened cream cheese work equally well. Greek yogurt can be used in place of the sour cream. For a sweeter version, marshmallow cream and/or heavy cream can be used in lieu of the cream cheese and sour cream.
    • Nuts: Walnuts or pistachios are a great substitution for pecans.
